The Ainos range's highest point is named megas soros and is 1620 metres high. The range is covered by extensive fir forests of a unique species to Greece known as the Cephalonian fir. The forest of Ainos has been a National Park since 1962 and is protected by the greek state.

| It is possible to drive almost to the highest point,although the road is very rough, once you pass the military area..The highest point which is accessible is where the radio masts are. There are a number of picnic areas on the way up. The view from the top is wonderful on a clear day from June to August the summit should be visible but it can often be covered in cloud in May/September and October. Follow the road towards Sami and Enos is signposted | .
